Booking Terms & Conditions

Any person booking and/or visiting The Real Mary King’s Close does so subject to the following conditions. Please review our terms and conditions carefully before making a booking.

Please read the terms and conditions carefully before booking your tour.

  • Payment: All tickets are non-refundable. Full pre-payment must be made for all people visiting The Real Mary King’s Close. If you pay for your tour at our Admissions Office on the Royal Mile, please note that we operate a cashless payment system and only accept payment via bank card.
  • Cashless. Please note that we operate a fully cashless system at The Real Mary King’s Close. We do not accept cash payments, or card payments via American Express. Make sure to bring a valid debit or credit card on the day of your tour.

 

  • Standard Tickets: You can change the date and time of your booking up to 6 hours before your tour for an additional £15 admin fee per booking. Click here to change your tickets. The transfer of your booking is subject to availability and cannot be used for any special events or products from our shop. You can reschedule your visit to a date within the next 12 months. If you originally booked a Standard ticket prior to 1st February 2024, and wish to reschedule it for a date after this threshold, a nominal additional fee will apply, corresponding to our standard ticket price adjustment implemented on February 1st.
  • Flexi Tickets: You can change the date and time of your booking for free up to 6 hours before your tour.  Click here to change your tickets. The transfer of your booking is subject to availability and cannot be used for any special events or products from our shop. You can reschedule your visit to a date within the next 12 months.

 

  • Cancellation: Standard fees for late cancellation are 100% of the booking. To notify us of the potential cancellation of your booking, please contact us.
  • Arrival / Late arrival: We ask all visitors to arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled tour time. The Real Mary King’s Close reserves the right to refuse entry to any visitors arriving after their scheduled tour time. The Real Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether late-arriving visitors will be charged for their tour. Standard fees for late arrival will be 100% of the booking.
  • No-shows: The Real Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether visitors who do not arrive for their tour will be charged. Standard fees for no-shows are 100% of the booking.

 

  • Translator: Any groups wishing to bring a translator will be required to book a private tour. To book a private tour, please contact us.
  • Audio guides are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian, Polish, Dutch and Mandarin. If you require an audio guide, please reserve them in advance by contacting us and quote your booking reference. We cannot guarantee audio guides will be available if they are not pre-booked.
  • Photography: Photography is prohibited during any tour at The Real Mary King’s Close.
  • Extras: All extras must be redeemed on the day of the visit. Extras are non-refundable.

The Real Mary King’s Close reserves the right to refuse entry on to a tour or remove any person who:

  • Arrives late for their tour
  • Is suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Does not respect the historical nature of the attraction
  • Behaves in a manner which is disruptive to the enjoyment of other visitors.
  • Behaves in a manner which compromises the safety of other visitors or staff.
  • Uses verbal or physical threats or insults toward any member of staff.
