Step into the shadows beneath Edinburgh’s Royal Mile for a whisky experience like no other.
Our Dram of History tour blends hidden history with a bold taste of Scotland’s national drink. Begin your evening with a specially curated 1-hour guided tour that dives deeper into the story of whisky and its role in the bustling world of Mary King’s Close. Once a lively centre for trade – alcohol included – these preserved underground streets are the perfect backdrop for a tale or two.
Then, raise a glass in one of our vaulted rooms during a 30-minute whisky tasting led by Ken Hanley, a whisky expert with over 20 years of experience. You’ll sample three distinctive drams, including our very own Scottish blended whisky. Each sip is packed with character and story.

This May, to toast Whisky Month in true Scottish style, we’re inviting you to round off your evening with a feast fit for the occasion. Guests on A Dram of History can choose to add on a Taste of Scotland dinner at Amber Restaurant, a warm and welcoming spot just a short stroll away.
This 3-course experience celebrates the best of seasonal Scottish produce. Expect dishes like Ham hock terrine with spiced apple, Chicken Balmoral with a whisky sauce, and the ultimate sticky toffee pudding paired with a dram. It’s bold, rich, and unforgettable.
£55 per person, including tea or coffee to finish.
Dinner must be booked through us and is available to Dram of History guests.
