Snowfall on the Close for the First Time in 250 years

5 Dec 2008

We're joined by journalists and photographers on December 2nd give them a sneak preview of our special Christmas on the Closes tours.  They also witnessed snow falling on Mary King’s Close and our courtyard, for the first time in 250 years!

Costumed guides took groups on a snowy, festive themed tour of our unique underground attraction, bringing to life tales of how Mary King and her fellow residents celebrated a traditional Christmas on the Closes back in the 16th to 19th centuries.  In addition, the treble choristers at St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir sang traditional carols and Christmas music, bringing some true festive atmosphere to the occasion.

Christmas on the Close tours start on December 6th and all tickets include a festive glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. For full information, click here.
