One of the oldest streets in the city, the Royal Mile provides a straight but sloping connection between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The route actually comprises a number of adjoining streets: the Esplanade, Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street, Netherbow, Canongate and Abbey Strand. You will find The Real Mary King's Close on the High Street section just opposite the stunning St Giles Cathedral.
