Terms and Conditions
All persons booking and/or visiting Mary King’s Close do so subject to the following conditions.
Booking:
1. All bookings remain provisional until full pre-payment has been received. For groups a signed copy of the booking letter must also be received before a booking can be confirmed
2. Once a full pre-payment has been received by Mary King’s Close individual bookings will be automatically confirmed. Groups must return full pre-payment and a signed copy of the booking letter before their bookings are confirmed. Written confirmation is not sent out unless requested.
3. All provisional bookings will be released 48 hours prior to the arrival date.
4. To amend your booking please call 0845 070 6255 for groups, 0845 070 6244 for individuals or email groups@continuum-group.com. Mary King’s Close reserves the right to charge for any amendments made within the 48 period prior to arrival.
Payment:
1. Full pre-payment must be made for all people visiting Mary King’s Close. Failure to pre-pay for your tour will result in Mary King’s Close releasing your booking 48 hours before your expected arrival time.
2. Groups who have made arrangements to be invoiced do not need to pay in advance. These groups must pay any invoice within 30 days of the invoice date. Failure to do so may result in pre-payment being required on future visits.
3. Cheques must be made payable to The Continuum Group Ltd and sent to Mary King’s Close, 2 Warriston’s Close, High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1PG.
4. Payment by cash should be made directly to a member of Mary King’s Close staff at the attraction and should not be sent via post. Mary King’s Close will not be responsible for any monies lost that have been sent via the postal service.
5. Payment by credit card should be made by calling Mary King’s Close on 0845 070 6244.
6. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival time. To cancel your booking please call 0845 070 6255 for groups or 0845 070 6244 for individuals. All cancellations made before the 48 hour deadline will receive a full refund. Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether late cancellations will be charged. Standard fees for late cancellation are 100% of the booking.
Visiting:
1. Arrival / Late arrival. We ask all visitors to arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled tour time. Mary King’s Close reserves the right to refuse entry to any visitors arriving after their scheduled tour time. Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether late arriving visitors will be charged for their tour. Standard fees for late arrival will be 100% of the booking.
2. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival time. Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether late cancellations will be charged. Standard fees for late cancellation are 100% of the booking. To cancel your booking please call 0845 070 6255
3. No-shows. Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether visitors who do not arrive for their tour will be charged. Standard fees for no-shows are 100% of the booking.
4. Refunds. Mary King’s Close retains absolute discretion as to whether refunds will be given.
5. All our tours have 20 spaces. If your group is less than 20 people we may let other people join your tour. The only way to ensure a private tour is to pay for all available 20 spaces.
6. Any groups wishing to bring a translator will be required to book a private tour.
7. Audio guides should be ordered in advance, we cannot guarantee audio guides will be available if they are not pre-booked.
8. Groups / visitors arriving with less people than originally booked will be charged for all pre-ordered tickets.
9. Mary King’s Close reserves the right to refuse entry on to a tour or remove any person who:
a. Arrives late for their tour
b. Is suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
c. Does not respect the historical nature of the attraction
d. Behaves in a manner which is disruptive to the enjoyment of other visitors.
e. Behaves in a manner which compromises the safety of other visitors or staff.
f. Uses verbal or physical threats or insults toward any member of staff
10. Photography is not allowed during any tour at Mary King’s Close
